Rent a GPU: cloud prices compared

Key facts

An RTX 4090 rents from $0.55 an hour (Vast.ai, median of live offers) and an H100 from $2.20 (Vast.ai, median of live offers). You pay only while the machine runs.

Prices before VAT or sales tax, checked on each provider's own pricing page.

Renting a graphics card in a data centre runs the same open models as a PC at home, without buying one. Pick the GPU by how much memory your model needs, then the provider by price and where your data may go.

Updated

Danylo Chernov (NoctHost) benchmarked five Ollama models on Hetzner Cloud CPUs and rents A16 and A40 GPUs by the hour. Self-reported, community measurement, not ours. Read Danylo Chernov's interview.

Cheapest per GPU

The lowest hourly price per GPU, then the cheapest from a company based in the EU. A cheaper option is a Community Cloud host, a spot machine that can be stopped for someone else, or the single cheapest offer on a marketplace right now.

The providers

Where the company is based decides which law it answers to. An EU company falls under the GDPR directly. A US company with an EU data centre keeps your data in the EU, but stays a US company. For personal data, check the provider's data processing agreement either way.

Rent a GPU or pay per token?

Services such as OpenRouter run the same open models and charge per token (about three quarters of a word). That is usually cheaper for light use, because you never pay for an idle GPU. A rented GPU wins when it stays busy, when you need a model or setting they do not offer, or when your data must stay on a machine only you use.

DeepSeek V3.2$0.2088$0.3096OpenRouter, lowest of 12 providers, 21 Oct 2026

For scale: one hour of the cheapest 48 GB card here ($0.40) costs the same as about 1.3 million output tokens of Llama 3.3 70B Instruct at $0.32 per million. Buy, rent or pay per use for your team works out the monthly cost.

What fits is our estimate from the model size, not a measured test. Prices are the providers' own, dated, before VAT, and change often; marketplace prices change by the hour. How we calculate

Common questions

What does it cost to rent an RTX 4090 or an H100?
On 21 Oct 2026 the lowest hourly figure we found for an RTX 4090 was $0.55 at Vast.ai (median of live offers), and for an H100 $2.20 at Vast.ai (median of live offers). Prices are per GPU per hour, before VAT or sales tax.
Which GPU clouds are based in the EU?
Hetzner (Germany), Scaleway and OVHcloud (France), Nebius (Netherlands) and Verda, formerly DataCrunch (Finland). The cheapest H100 among them was €2.80 per hour at OVHcloud. A US company with an EU data centre keeps the data in the EU, but it is still a US company.
Which rented GPU do I need for a 70B model?
Llama 3.3 70B at standard quality needs about 46.0 GB with a conversation of 8,192 tokens, by our estimate. The smallest GPU here that holds it is a 48 GB card. The cheapest one billed by the hour was RTX A6000 at Vast.ai, $0.40 per hour. More users or longer conversations need more memory, so an 80 GB A100 or H100 gives room to grow.
